Anesthesiology

OAHU (on hold) - Full-time temporary (locums) position  2011.  Board certification is essential, should be experienced in a team care medical direction model setting (CRNAs) - supervising up to 4 CRNAs 110% of the time and with at least 5-6 years of experience.  Patient acuity is high with many diabetic older patients with multisystem disease who present for neuro, vascular, ortho, or general surgery.  After-hours call is taken about one a week; weekend call is 24 hours out of house about once every 4-5 weekends and the Monday after the weekend call is an off day.     (Prefer if you have someone here locally and already licensed.) physicians are expected to be Board Certified or anticipating certification.   One of the top 11 Cardiac hospitals in the country.  We no longer do overnights in the hospital. The patients are friendly; happy they are on vacation, and usually not too sick. The clinics are in the best resorts and hotels.  No call.  The patients are friendly; happy they are on vacation.  The clinics are nice in very nice hotels.   50% hotel guests; 50% local residents including hotel employees.  Sports injuries, lots of minor work injuries, outpatient ortho, lacerations, remove foreign matter (dirt) from eyes, splint fingers, sprains, peds, marine injuries, no casting.   hours in the clinic; one clinic is only open 4 hours so occasional short days.  Some house and hotel calls. Lots of ENT and OMs from flying and diving. No specialists or hospital right nearby so you must be experienced and confident.  However, all really acute or emergent patients (cardiac, MVA, back pain, etc.) you transfer immediately to the ER 30 min's away. Some 11 hr shifts, most are 6 or 7.  Three to five a week, some weekends.  Previous moonlighting, urgent care or ER experience is necessary.  All the benefits of working in and living in a world-class resort.  Casual yet professional. You must be social and sociable. The medical director is also a doc for the Olympics and scuba instructor and does a lot of travel medicine. Opportunities to do all of these. Geneticist

filled OAHU Full-time PERM MD Geneticist - Hospital, clinic, teaching and clinical research. The Geneticist will be responsible for providing collaborative obstetrical and pediatrics inpatient and outpatient consultations on infants and children with congenital malfunctions. The Geneticist will also be accountable for teaching obstetrical and pediatrics medical genetics to our students. Additionally, the Geneticist will provide nursery consultation on a weekly basis and case management telephone consultations on an as needed basis. Collaboratively, the Geneticist will be actively involved in diagnostic issues/difficult case discussions with the involved staff for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Department of Pediatrics. In terms of residency education, the Geneticist will be responsible for developing curricula on a variety of Genetics subject from an obstetrical and General Pediatrics/Primary Care perspective as well as develop a prearranged curriculum on Human Genetics as part of the overall resident educational program.
